Hazel Park Head Start Free Preschool Program
Head Start is a federally funded school readiness program for children who will be age 3 on or before December 1 of the current school year and children who will not be 5 until after December 1 of the current school year. Families must meet federal eligibility requirements. Head Start maintains a waiting list and recruits for the program all year.
Give your child a Head Start in school:
- Classes meet Monday through Thursday
- Mornings 7:45 to 11:15 or Afternoons 12:00 to 3:30
- Breakfast and lunch or lunch and snack served daily
- High/Scope curriculum
- Families always welcome
Our staff includes:
- A nurse, who follows children's physical development and supports families as they strive to assure the greatest possible health for their children.
- A registered dietitian, who oversees our meal planning and works with families to improve nutrition and increase activity.
- A social worker, who consults with staff to insure a healthy social climate in the classrooms, consults with parents regarding any mental health issues affecting the family, and provides child development and discipline support for families and staff upon request.
- A family services/family involvement coordinator who can assist families in obtaining emergency services and serves as the volunteer liaison between staff and families.

Hazel Park School District Latchkey Program School Days and Half Days Times: 6:30 A.M. until school starts; end of school day to 6:00 P.M. Fees:
- A.M. and P.M. $75 per week per child
- A.M. $30 per week per child
- P.M. $50 per week per child
- Extra half day due to conference or in-service $10 per child
- Less than full week: $11 per session per child ages 5 to 12
