Some individuals with disabilities may be eligible for services from Oakland County agencies and service providers to assist them in their post-school life. Click the title of an agency for more information.
Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority (OCCMHA) | 800-231-1127 Through its provider network, OCCMHA provides the extra support people with disabilities sometimes need to become equal members in their community. This increases their opportunities to relate with others, to learn, to work, to play, to pray, and make valuable contributions to the community in which they live. Macomb Oakland Regional Center (MORC) | 866-754-3398 The Macomb-Oakland Regional Center Inc. (MORC) helps individuals with disabilities and mental illness realize their dreams as full members of their communities. We do this through comprehensive services and supports, training and education, and advocacy.
Community Living Services of Oakland County (CLS) | 866-381-7600 CLS/OC is a nonprofit organization that promotes community inclusion, full citizenship and a self-determined life for people with developmental disabilities. We are strongly focused on person-centered planning, meaning you plan for your future with people important to you. CLS/OC believes in: Family preservation, the importance of community, flexible service and funding, partnerships that actively include individuals and families, new approaches and creative methods of supports.
Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) | Oak Park Office: 877-620-7939 MRS assists people with disabilities to prepare for, find, and maintain employment. Provides accommodations, career counseling, training, and other job related services.
Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) | Det. Office: 313-456-1646 MRS and MCB provide services to people who have a disability that impacts their ability to obtain and maintain employment. Vocational rehabilitation services are available throughout adult life and include, but are not limited to: vocational counseling, job placement, job coaching and other related services.
Judson Center | 248-549-4339 Judson Center provides supported employment, counseling services, autism connections, LIFE academy, group homes and supported independence living.
Community Housing Network | 248-928-0111 At Community Housing Network we are committed to providing homes for people in need, including those who are homeless, people living with a disability or low income, and anyone facing a housing crisis.
The ARC of Oakland | 248-816-1900 The ARC of Oakland County is an agency serving children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The primary purpose is to provide advocacy.
Disability Network Oakland & Macomb | 800-284-2457 Provides Information and Referral services linking our consumers to agencies and resources that may provide funding for various disability related needs and services.
Regional Interagency Consumer Committee (RICC) RICC is a local, grassroots, group of people with developmental disabilities, their friends and family members. The Oakland County Regional Interagency Consumer Committee is established to address issues concerning persons with developmental disabilities by planning, evaluating, advising and coordinating efforts deemed necessary within the county.
United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Detroit (UCP) | 248-557-5070 UCP services include information and referrals regarding issues relating to all disabilities, assistance in applying for government benefits, assistance in accessing community resources, referrals to appropriate agencies, advocacy and accessing special education services.
Social Security Administration – Social Security Income (SSI) | 800-722-1213 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a program administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA). SSI is a program that pays monthly benefits to individuals with a disability, who meet eligibility requirements. Social Security plays an important role in transition for individuals who may need ongoing or longer term supports and services from community agencies such as Community Mental Health and their network of service providers. Many services available after an individual with a disability leaves public education are eligibility based and are funded through Social Security and Medicaid.
Oakland Schools | 248-209-2000 The Oakland Schools Department of Special Education provides staff and services to the constituent school districts within Oakland County to support the identification and education of students with disabilities. Services include, but are not limited to, teacher consultants for evaluating and instructing students with low incidence disabilities, audiolocial evaluations regulatory technical assistance, access to assistive technology and a range of professional learning opportunities for educators, parents, and administration.
Oakland Community College (OCC) Four campus locations in Oakland County. The PASS Program serves students with disabilities and educational support.
Oakland County Parks & Rec | 248-858-7596 Oakland County Parks strives to provide recreational and leisure opportunities for all residents of Oakland County. Adaptive Recreation provides therapeutic recreation programs and services. (Ex. Socials, Youth Abilities Sports Special, adaptive recreation equipment, Paralympics Academy)
Southfield Parks & Recreation | 248-796-4600 Beech Woods Recreation Center offers several fun and exciting sporting opportunities for people with disabilities. Adaptive programs include wheelchair basketball, golf and tennis, Jr. Michigan Thunderbirds Wheelchair Basketball, Southfield Special Forces social group, Miracle League Baseball and more.
Real Skills Academy | 248-673-6799 (formerly Excel Driving School) Provides driver’s rehabilitation and specialized services for young adults to learn driving skills. They offer Intro to Driving, simulator based driver’s training and special needs programs.
